What actually is Artificial Intelligence? Humans and machines are making their way into a new learning era. An era in which technology and ordinary intelligence join together to help people realize their full potential.

The key instrument for this evolution is thus Artificial Intelligence, i.e. the discipline that aims to produce machines capable of “thinking” autonomously: it is the automation of activities which, until recently, were only achievable by human thought.

Globalization, along with increasingly challenging market requirements, is forcing managers to optimize all processes within their organizations. Therefore, understanding the fundamental role played by the monitoring of operation parameters is fairly simple.

The Smart Degassing project is a product of this fact. Through Artificial Intelligence, this project has led to the development of a monitoring system to control operation parameters that affect aluminium density throughout the degassing process, in order to reach a stable productive cycle equipped with autonomous feedback control for steady density level. This enabled the stabilization of the whole process and slashed production-related costs.

The decisive factor for health and safety in the workplace is the identification and restriction of possible risks. Every occupation involves specific risks that can be eliminated or at least reduced.

The new Single-Text on Health and Safety in the workplace underlines very clear and specific duties with regards to this subject matter. Obligations vary according to some specific aspects, such as the evidence of particular risks. The employer is therefore required to take all necessary measures in order to guarantee safety and protect the physical and mental health of all the employees.

With regards to safety in the workplace, above all construction sites, we have drawn up a customized project for telecommunications agency. The goal of this project is to exploit artificial intelligence in order to determine wether the worker is wearing compulsory personal protective equipment or not, with particular attention being paid to helmets (head protective equipment) and high visibility clothing (making sure the worker is visible from afar in low visibility conditions). In particular, deep-learning methods have been used for object recognition in images and/or videos.
