The increased competitiveness in the market forces enterprises to provide goods and services of increasingly higher quality and lower costs. As a consequence, innovation focuses on the development of integrated systems that enable an increase in global efficiency and improve quality intended to ensure client satisfaction.
The VSD project (Vibrational Slag Detection) has led to the development of an integrated system of waste detection for the continuous casting process that is based on vibrational analysis. By monitoring the vibration amplitude throughout the process, the system is capable of detecting the presence of waste. This has resulted in increased standards of iron quality as well as reduced maintenance costs.
The need to do business in a globalized market imposes the need to operate the service efficiently, avoiding expensive business travels whenever possible. As far as automatic machines are concerned, it is possible to set up a series of sensors which simplify remote diagnostics. On the one hand, this process is considerably more complex for worker-run machines, as it becomes much harder to tell the difference between a real breakdown and wrong use by the operator.
With a view to solve this issue, Intellimech has developed a smartphone-based system which can synchronously link available operating data to an explanatory video on the use of the machine, in order to allow efficient remote diagnostics.
By applying this system, the company will be able to cut service-related costs and carry out maintenance work only when necessary.
